Sabar Sabar Rekk is a Senegalese/Swedish group of artists working with West African dance and music, based both in Dakar (Senegal) and Malmo (Sweden). Our main productions are dance shows with live music on stage, a cultural dance & drum retreat trip and dance workshops. The dancers perform choreographies and individual improvisations, interacting with the musicians and the audience. West African rhythms from drums like the talking drum tama, sabar, dundun and kutiro mix and integrate with those from the 21-stringed West African harp-lute kora. The voices of the singers are energetic and emotional. Mystical West African masks, such as the Simba, appear and disappear on stage as a part of the narrative.
